Directory Services Using Eudora Pro v. 5.0 &
6.0 for Windows 98/2000/XP
- To set-up and access UW Oshkosh's LDAP server select Directory Services
from the Tools menu.
- If your Directory Services window looks like the above, then you need to
either enlarge the window with your mouse, maximize the window, and/or
position your mouse on the right vertical bar and drag the mouse to the
left in order to see the Protocols and Database windows as shown below.

-
There will be a number of "Configured Servers" that are already
defined for you and available to search. You can add additional
entries as you need them and find the addresses for. To add an entry
for UW Oshkosh's LDAP server:
- Highlight the "LDAP" in the Protocols window
- Click New Database
- Enter the information as shown above and click OK
- Enter the following in the the search base field
- ou = people, o
= uwosh.edu, dc =
uwosh, dc = edu
- Under the maximum number of matches to return - uncheck the No
Limit and enter 30
In the "Query" field, you will usually have best results
searching by entering First Name initial. For example, if you
are looking for John Doe, enter in the query field
Doe J (not case-sensitive) and click Start You can try
just Doe if you are not sure of the first name or the spelling
of it. Too many matches or no matches will produce the same "Last
Match 0" message. If you receive zero matches, try adding or
subtracting from your search string.
When you find a match and want to E-Mail that person, click the
E-Mail address and select the To button. The New Message window
should appear with the selected address in the To field.
