Campus Server Migration to SAN

People typically acces their Novell Server (from OS X) by
selecting <Command+K>, Connect to Server...

Academic Computing will be migrating data from existing Novell Servers to a Storage Area Network.
The Novell User accounts will be moved to a Clustered Server called CAMPUS.

As a result of this change, individuals who access the Novell environment from a Macintosh will have to make some slight changes. To jump ahead and see what those changes are click here. Otherwise please keep reading as you scroll down.

For this example the College of Education and Human Services is used throughout.
When you see "COEHS" just substitute the name of your department's Novell Server.

Currently, this is how you access Novell: In the "Connect to Server" window you type in the path: coehs.nds.it.uwosh.edu

When you click on the "Connect" button you are prompted for your username and password:

Next, you were asked which Volume to mount and were
instructed to click on the "COEHS.SOFT" Volume, then click OK:

When connected to the "COEHS" Server you would see the Users and Shared folders
located within the "SOFT" Volume. As illustrated further down,
you will now have to mount each Volume separately.

For this example the College of Education and Human Services is used throughout.
When you see "COEHS" just substitute the name of your department's Novell Server.

In the future this is what you will need to do:
Instead of typing "coehs", just substitute "campus".
The remaining text is unchanged.

Notice, only the name of the file server you are connecting to has changed.
You still must enter your username and password:

NOTE: To change your Novell Password from the Machintosh,
click the Options button shown on the above window.

In the new environment there will be a number of Volumes displayed.
If you want to mount the Volume with your personal files
and folders click "Users" then OK.

If you would like to access files and folders that relate to a shared project,
such as grant work, or a collaborative effort that you are woking on with others
in your department, College, or across campus click the "Shared" Volume, then OK.

NOTE: You can mount both Volumes to your Desktop by holding down
the <Shift> key and clicking on "Shared" then "Users" to select both
Volumes, then release the <Shift> key and click OK.

There will NEVER be a need for you to connect to any Volume titled "CLUSTER...".
