Linux Passwords

Changing passwords

Passwords can be changed by running kpasswd from the command line. It will ask for the current password, for the new password and a verification of the new password. The new password must follow the requirements below.

Passwords Requirements:
  • Must be at least 8 characters in length

  • Cannot be the same as the username

  • Cannot be based on a dictionary word

  • Must be a mix of characters and numbers

Forgotten Passwords

If you forgot your password, you must visit the Academic Computing Help Desk in Dempsey 207 with your TitanCard between the hours of 7:45 to 4:30 Monday thru Friday.
