The Symantec AntiVirus client can work in the managed mode on and off campus.  This is an important improvement for University-owned PC's and Laptops that are used off-campus.

The GRC.DAT file out on AC1.  The file holds the proper settings to reconfigure an existing install, or properly configure an upgrade or new install.

To Reconfigure an Existing Install of SAV 8.1:

1.

Make sure you are logged into Novell and have Administrative rights to the PC

2.   Open https://webmail.uwosh.edu/redirect?file:///\\AC1\Soft\Installs\AllStaff\AntiVirus\

3.  Double-click on GRCDROP.EXE (GRCDROP.EXE will copy GRC.DAT to the appropriate place on the PC)

4.   Reboot the PC

To Properly Configure an Upgrade or New Install of SAV 8.1:

1.   Make sure you are logged into Novell and have Administrative rights to the PC

2.   Open https://webmail.uwosh.edu/redirect?file:///\\AC1\Soft\Installs\AllStaff\AntiVirus\

3.  Double-click on Setup.exe (Setup.exe will use the settings found in GRC.DAT during the process)

4.   Reboot the PC

If you carry copies of these files on a CD or something, be sure you have the latest copy of Setup.exe, GRCDROP.EXE, and GRC.DAT in the same folder
