How does automatic download blocking in Internet Explorer Work?

In Internet Explorer, the Automatic Download Blocking feature provides automatic suppression of file download dialog boxes that are not the result of an action you took (e.g., a click or keystroke). When a dialog box is automatically blocked, the Information Bar appears at the top of your window, stating:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for more options...."

You can then click the Information Bar to download the blocked content.

If the Information Bar does not appear, you can change the setting that controls automatic download blocking:

1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then Internet Options.
   
   
2. In the Internet Options dialog box, from the Security tab, select the Internet zone, and then click Custom level... .
   
   
3. Scroll down to "Downloads". Under "Automatic prompting for file downloads", select Enable.
