What is NetDrive and how do I install it?
About NetDrive
NetDrive allows you to map a drive on your workstation and, via the internet, connect to a folder on Novell, Windows or Linux server.
You can also map multiple drives to multiples servers. The drive mapping will show up in Windows explorer and look and act like a local
drive.
System Requirements
You need to have Windows 95 or above.
Installing NetDrive
The NetDrive installer can be downloaded from our secure download site here. You must log in to download, only current UW Oshkosh employees and students are eligible to use NetDrive.
You can either save it to disk, or run it from its current location.
If you choose to save to disk, you must double click it afterwards to start the install, otherwise it will start automatically.
Accept the defaults. A reboot may be required.
After the installation enter the netdrive software.
Click on New Site, enter a name for the site such as "Lan2"
You will need to choose a protocol or server type you wish to use. You can choose to use
WebDav or FTP. WebDav is more secure and offers encryption it also will poll your novell login script and map out
all of the drives as subfolders. WebDav is a newer protocol developed by Microsoft. The FTP protocol is a stable
well tested protocol that has been around for a long time but has less features under NetDrive.
WebDav is the preferred way to connect.
For WebDav enter a site address of https://nds3.nds.it.uwosh.edu/oneNet/NetStorage
Make sure you select the appropriate server type of WebDav
Change the drive to the letter you choose. Ie S: or W:
Check Connect at login/Startup
Check Add to tray connect menu
Uncheck Anonymous/Public Logon
Enter your username. Depending on security concerns choose to enter password and Save password box.

By default this will now connect you to your user directory on the novell network.
If you selected ftp as your protocol you may also wish to map other drives. To do this
click on the advanced button and enter the folder you wish to connect to in the Root Directory.
