How do I fix a PCL XL error?

This is a common problem with various printers. Including HP's, Dells, Epsons. Here at UW Oshkosh we use HP printers.

PCL XL error pages that print out on the printer when using the PCL 6 XL (Enhanced) printer driver typically indicate a communication issue. This error can also be caused by an incompatibility between the Enhanced XL language and the software application that is associated with the file being printed.

A PCL XL error will typically look like the following:
PCL XL Error Subsystem: KERNEL Error: IllegalOperatorSequence Operator: SetColorSpace Position: 52
The first step in determining the source of the problem is to verify that printer hardware is functioning correctly.
