by Ken Penniston On February 22, 2001, the Academic Computing Users Group (ACUG) met to discuss various issues. One of the agenda items was a discussion as to whether or not to replace the Windows NT operating system in the general access computer labs with Windows 2000. Windows 2000 is the most current operating system, is very stable, performs well, has a higher level of security, and has additional features. Additional memory will need to be added to some of the computers, however, the cost to do so, is nominal. ACUG agreed by consensus that during the summer of 2001, Windows 2000 will be installed in the general access labs in time for the start of the Fall 2001 semester. | UW Oshkosh Home Page | ACS Home Page | Newsletter Index | UW Oshkosh Webmaster URL: http://www.acs.uwosh.edu/documentation/connections/200102/opsys2.shtml Last updated: Wednesday, March 28, 2001 - 08:14 AM |
