4. Do we have a 24-hour Computer Lab on Campus?
Yes, Radford is a 24-hour lab, 7 days/week, during the Fall, Spring and Summer sessions and both Interims. After the listed hours, the Radford Computer Lab is card access only, accessible to all currently registered students with their TitanCard.

5. Do the labs have scanners, and how do I use them?
Yes, each computer lab has at least one scanner connected to a workstation. The scanner can only be used with the one computer to which it is hooked up. PC scanning stations can be found in the Radford, Polk, Halsey, and Swart labs; Mac scanning stations can be found in the Radford, Clow, and Swart labs. These stations are marked “Scanning Has Priority".

Two programs are commonly used to scan: Adobe Photoshop Elements and Microsoft Photo Editor. In Photoshop click File, select Import, and choose Scanner. In Photo Editor click on the scan icon between Print and Cut. Scanning directions are attached to each scanner in the labs. After you have scanned the item, you can save it as a picture to an external disk or to the network U: Drive.

6. How do I access my network files from a computer away from campus?
The Student U: Directory and the Shared Q: Directory can both be accessed from computers outside the computer labs. Requirements are simply Internet Explorer version 4 or higher or Netscape version 4x (other browsers and versions may be adequate but have not been thoroughly tested).

Type the following in the address line of your browser (replace “username” with your Novell logon name):

ftp://username@ftp.nds.it.uwosh.edu

You will be prompted for your Novell password, and upon successful login you will be looking at your home directory as if you were sitting on campus. Now you can copy files to or from your home computer so you can work on them without having to carry around diskettes or ZIP disks, and without worrying about corrupt media.

7. Where can I go for color printing, resume printing, transparencies, etc?
The Presentations Lab/IRC located in room Polk 5 (across from testing center) offers color laser printing not available in the computer labs, as well as a variety of additional services including CD & DVD burning, digital camera and video recorder checkout, and software workshops.

Copy This located on the first floor of Reeve Union offers services such as photocopying, transparency printing, resume paper printing, and faxing.

8. How do I get help if I have questions, and how do I forward my concerns or suggestions regarding Academic Computing's Computer Labs?
